When the local fashion agencies refused to work with me due to my liking for nudity, I decided to get back to my roots and headed downtown to the streets searching for girls. This occupation is fraught with danger, a different kind of danger: screaming teenagers, slaps across the face, irate boyfriends, irate mothers - when the mothers are 35 they get pissed when you ask their daughters and not them to slip out of their clothes!

But when it works it's like discovering a new continent; you feel like Einstein with e = mc_ written on the blackboard. With a copy of our magazine The New Nude in my hand and my Portuguese speaking assistant Ben by my side translating, we browsed the streets with radar eyes and a little dream came true. Check out the results in today’s photos and decide for yourself.

Her name is Gislane, I love that name, and she will put a spell on you. She is without doubt one of the top five girls I have ever photographed (and I'm not saying who the other four are). And even if she is the only person I shoot in Brazil it will have been worth the trip. It's a good start, a really good start, and all because we bumped into each other, literally, at the entrance to the mall in downtown Florianopolis.

"Would you like to be in our magazine?"
"Yes."
"You can see, it's a nude magazine."
"I can't wait to get started."

We met first thing the following morning and I set out to take advantage of the different locations on Santa Catarina. We started out in the studio, then moved outside as the sun was going down in the pale winter sky and ended the session in our villa. Sixteen amazing hours of continuous shooting being fuelled on nothing but Red Bull and power bars.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with a girl who will let me witness a true Brazilian waxing. I have always wondered what it is all about and I can’t wait to see it, and of course share it with all of you.
