This place even beats the strip in California when it comes to men in bulging tee-shirts showing off their ripped bodies and women in hot pants so tight you can read their lips.

It is, though, with mixed feelings that my photographic eye observes the lifestyle down here at the tip of the world: a society with more and more middle-aged bachelors hunting their fantasies (that is, girls half their age), and women, ironically, still chained to the chastity belt brought here by Dutch religious fanatics expelled from Holland hundreds of years ago. Bizarre? You'd better believe it.

Based on my first contact with the model agencies and meeting some of the girls, this prim and prudish grip is still strong, even in the most open-minded circles, but there's one thing we Vikings like and that's a challenge. Didn't we sail to America hundreds of years before Columbus? Check it out.

What is even more odd, is that this prudish attitude is in total contradiction to the nightlife and lifestyle media. "How to become the king of one night stands," is the number one subject in male mags like Men's Health and Fhm, and "How to avoid the embarrassing breakfast together," is the main topic in women's mags like Cosmopolitan and Glamour. People get naked down here, that's for sure. They just don't like the neighbours to know about it. Reminds me of when I was an exchange student down in Alabama back in 88 :-)
