It is completely dark around me. The waves are practically rolling right underneath me and the wind is playing tunes with every little opening in my cabin. This place has no electricity, but I have been granted a single bulb and a socket to be able to charge my batteries. And even this gets shut down at midnight. After one day my gear is already filled with sand and the camera is sweating with humidity. Luckily I have two cameras with me just in case.
We arrived last night together with Anna S and a new girl, Brigi from Hungary. It was a long trip: Barcelona to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Mexico City, Mexico City to Cancun and then an hour and half in a car to Tulum - but definitely worth it. The other models and the rest of the team arrived tonight and have just settled in.
As we were the first to arrive today, I did a 'warm-up' shoot with Anna S and Brigi. I started out on the terrace of my hut. A bed is suspended from the ceiling by 4 ropes, a perfect love nest. So I put Anna S and Brigi in the nest! Later we also documented a true Mayan massage with Brigi as the lucky model receiving an all-over pampering. In a tent on the beach she was oiled up, rubbed and bathed like a little baby! We ended the day on the beach with Anna S in familiar style posing in our all white American Apparel collection, picked especially for this production.
Stuffed with quesadillas, frijoles, guacamole with salsa picante and a couple of Coronas I know I will sleep well tonight!
Tomorrow the work begins. Full throttle.
